A Rope Dressing.

Background

Conventional rope dressings aim to provide an envelope or skin which will be impervious to water or gasses are widely used and their effectiveness depends on, amongst other things, on both the extent to which the envelope remains intact and on its penetration into the rope.

With locked coil ropes penetration with these conventional products is difficult to achieve without sacrifice of other requirements. For friction winders a third requirement is that it should not decrease the friction between the rope and the drum. Bryto P1 exhibits no lower co-efficient of creep or static friction that transformer oil.

Product Description

Bryto P1 is a pump able rope-dressing product offering effective corrosion protection. The penetration of the  Bryto P1 is specifically controlled, resulting in a very thin film of chemical barriers by  chemisorptions, as opposed to mechanical protection. The films formed are of molecular dimensions and are very difficult to dislodge.

Bryto P1 is particularly suited for locked coil ropes whatever their application, in addition to conventional triangular or flattened strand ropes on friction winders (Koepes) since the co-efficient of friction is a consideration.

Applications

Bryto P1 is recommended for protection of all ropes. The fluidity of the product allows it to be applied by swab or brush on short ropes, but on deep shafts application is better by a pressure spray rig operated periodically, a little and often.
